Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of this website and its general content. Beta-reading purchases are also governed by the Beta Reading Terms and Refund Policy.

Effective date: August 4, 2026

By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. Do not use the website if you do not agree.

1. Business identity

This website is operated under the professional name Mia Garay by Maria Cordero, a Texas sole proprietor. In these terms, “I,” “me,” and “my” refer to Maria Cordero doing business as Mia Garay.

2. Website purpose

The website provides information about beta-reading services, educational content, forms, and ways to contact or work with me. Website information is general and may change without notice.

3. No automatic service agreement

Submitting a request, sending a message, joining an email list, or scheduling a call does not require me to accept a project and does not create a client relationship. A beta-reading agreement begins only after I accept the project, we confirm the material terms, and payment is completed.

4. Intellectual property

The website design, original text, branding, graphics, downloads, templates, and other original website materials are owned by or licensed to me and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may view and print website pages for personal, noncommercial use. You may not copy, republish, sell, distribute, scrape, frame, imitate, or create derivative commercial materials from the website without written permission.

Your manuscript and other original materials remain yours. Nothing in these website terms transfers ownership of your work to me.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the website to:

  • Break the law, violate another person’s rights, or submit material you do not have authority to share.
  • Transmit malware, interfere with security, overload the site, or attempt unauthorized access.
  • Harvest contact information, send spam, impersonate another person, or submit false or misleading information.
  • Use automated systems to copy, extract, or reproduce substantial website content without permission.

6. Third-party services and links

The website may link to or use third-party services, including forms, scheduling, payment processing, email marketing, document sharing, and hosting. I do not control third-party websites and am not responsible for their availability, security, content, or separate terms and privacy practices.

7. Website availability

I may change, suspend, remove, or discontinue any part of the website. I do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or compatibility with every browser or device.

8. Informational disclaimer

Website content is provided for general informational purposes. It is not legal, financial, tax, publishing, editing, mental-health, or other professional advice. You are responsible for evaluating information and obtaining qualified advice when needed.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. I do not promise that website content will be complete, current, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the website. My total liability for a claim relating only to use of this free website will not exceed the amount you paid to access the website, which is normally zero.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any legal proceeding concerning these website terms must be brought in a court with jurisdiction in Harris County, Texas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

12. Severability and waiver

If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

13. Changes

I may update these terms. Updated terms apply after they are posted with a new effective date. Terms governing an already accepted beta-reading project will be the version incorporated into that agreement unless the parties agree otherwise.
